We've had a cable modem for the past year or two and are being hit with another rate increase. Since we use Dish Network for our TV service, paying just for a cable modem is kinda pricey.
Well, we got an offer from the local phone company about DSL, and it ends up being about half the price for the same speed. This morning we installed all the phone filters and fired up the new modem.
And much to our surprise, IT'S FASTER! At least today it's faster than cable. Holy cow! I'm going to give it a week or so to make sure it stays faster then cancel the cable modem.
You know what the big drawback is? Having to change my email address at 5 bazillion websites. Oy!

Enjoy the speed! After we got our cable internet installed, I couldn't believe the difference. How did we live with dial-up for so long?
